What Does 20% Tint Look Like on a 2025–Present Toyota Camry?
If you are wondering what 20% tint looks like on the latest Toyota Camry, this real installation gives you a good example. We tinted a turquoise 2026 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid with a black interior using carbon window film.
We installed 20% tint on all four door windows and 15% tint on the rear window. This information applies to the 2025 Toyota Camry and 2026 Toyota Camry.
Quick Answer: What Does 20% Tint Look Like on a Toyota Camry?
Twenty percent tint gives the 2025–present Toyota Camry a dark, sporty appearance without looking as extreme as 5% tint. During the day, the windows create more of a silhouette effect. You may be able to tell that someone is inside, but identifying the person becomes more difficult.

The black interior also helps this particular Camry look darker from the outside. The 15% rear window is slightly darker than the 20% door windows, but the difference is subtle enough that most people would not notice it without closely comparing the glass or using a tint meter.

Why Does This Camry Have 20% on the Sides and 15% on the Back?

When the customer booked the appointment, he originally selected 15% for all four doors and the rear window. On the day of the appointment, he decided that he wanted 20% instead.
Because his original film had already been computer-cut, changing the percentage would normally require cutting an entirely new set of film. However, we had a pre-cut set of 20% carbon film available for the Camry’s side windows from another appointment that could no longer move forward. That set did not include the rear window.
The customer decided to use 20% on the four doors while keeping the original 15% film for the rear window. That is how this Camry ended up with the mixed-percentage combination.
Can You See the Difference Between 15% and 20% Tint?
There is a difference between 15% and 20% tint, but it is relatively small.

If two identical Toyota Camrys were parked beside each other—one with 15% tint and the other with 20%—an experienced window tinter could usually recognize the difference. Most customers, however, would have difficulty telling them apart unless they examined both vehicles closely or tested the windows with a tint meter.
At Dope Tintings, we install the percentage the customer selects. We keep multiple tint percentages available so customers can get the shade they requested instead of receiving whatever happens to be in stock.
How Dark Does 20% Look From Outside?
On this turquoise Camry, 20% carbon tint gives the side windows a clean, dark finish that works well with the black interior and exterior color.
In bright sunlight, some light still enters through the windshield, which can make the front cabin easier to see from certain angles. When the vehicle is facing away from the sun or viewed from the shaded side, the windows appear noticeably darker.

Twenty percent does not create the near-total daytime privacy associated with 5% tint. It provides moderate privacy and a silhouette effect: you may recognize that someone is sitting inside without being able to clearly identify that person.
What Is Visibility Like From Inside?
Daytime visibility through 20% and 15% tint is generally clear. The included interior photo shows the view through one of the Camry’s 20% door windows in bright daylight.
At night, both percentages are manageable for most drivers with good eyesight. Streetlights, parking-lot lighting and nearby headlights make it easier to see through the film.
In a poorly lit area, the windows will naturally appear darker. A driver may need to lower a window while parallel parking, backing into a tight space or checking an unlit curb. Individual eyesight also plays a major role in how comfortable any tint percentage feels at night.

Would We Recommend This Combination?
We would normally recommend choosing either 20% on every window or 15% on every window.
If a customer wants the lighter option, we recommend 20% throughout the vehicle. If the customer wants a slightly darker appearance, we recommend 15% throughout. Using one percentage also allows us to computer-cut the complete installation from the same roll.
However, there is nothing wrong with the combination used on this Camry. The 15% rear window does not look noticeably mismatched with the 20% sides, and both shades remain practical compared with much darker options.
For everyday driving, 20% is a popular middle-ground choice for customers who believe 35% is too light but do not want the nighttime difficulty associated with 5%.

Carbon film was a practical choice for this installation because it offers additional heat rejection compared with our standard film without reaching the price of ceramic. For a more detailed comparison, read our carbon vs. ceramic window tint guide.

Is 20% Tint Legal in New Jersey?
New Jersey generally does not permit aftermarket tint on the front side windows of a passenger vehicle without a qualifying medical exemption. The rear side windows and rear window have different requirements.
Laws and enforcement can change, so customers should review our New Jersey window tint law guide and confirm the current regulations before selecting a percentage.
