This white 2026 Kia K4 received 5% Standard tint on all four doors, both fixed rear windows, and the back window. The combination of extremely dark film, a black interior, and limited cabin visibility gave the K4 a strong blackout appearance during daylight.

The customer was already familiar with 5% because her previous vehicle had the same percentage. She wanted maximum privacy, a dark finished appearance, and the most affordable lifetime-warranty film package available for this service.

This first-time Dope Tintings customer came from Burlington County in South Jersey. She knew that she wanted 5% before bringing the K4 to us because she had already driven a previous vehicle with extremely dark tint.

Her three primary goals were:

• Maximum privacy
• A strong blackout appearance
• An affordable film package

Because she was already accustomed to 5%, she understood that its nighttime visibility would be different from a lighter percentage such as 20% or 35%. That experience made 5% a more appropriate choice for her than it would be for a first-time tint customer who has never driven with dark side windows.

She selected our Standard film because appearance and privacy were more important to her than upgrading for heat rejection. Standard 5% provides the same labeled tint percentage as Carbon 5%, but Carbon would be the upgrade for someone who also wants improved heat rejection.

The installation included more than the four roll-down windows. This Kia K4 also has small fixed windows beside the rear roll-down glass, and those pieces received 5% film as well. The front doors do not have separate fixed windows.

Tinting every side-glass section and the back window at the same percentage helped create a uniform appearance across the vehicle.

When the customer returned, she was happy with the installation and said the K4 looked exactly how she wanted it. Her father was also impressed by the finished vehicle and became interested in having the two front windows of his own vehicle tinted.

From outside during daylight, the 5% Standard film looked extremely dark. The cabin was almost completely hidden from many angles, especially through the rear section.

The front side windows also appeared very dark, although light entering through the untreated windshield could reveal limited interior detail from certain positions. Rather than producing the same exact appearance from every direction, the glass changed slightly as the viewing angle and incoming light changed.

The K4’s black interior contributed to the dark appearance because fewer light-colored surfaces were visible through the film. The front windshield remained untreated, so daylight could still enter the cabin from the front.

When sunlight entered directly through the windshield, a person standing at the correct angle could sometimes detect limited cabin detail. From another position, the same 5% window could look nearly black.

The white exterior created strong visual contrast around the dark windows and helped give the vehicle a clean, finished style. However, the white paint did not change the film’s actual percentage. The primary factors affecting how dark the windows appeared were the 5% film, black interior, untreated windshield, incoming sunlight, reflections, and viewing angle.

The 35% K4 allows considerably more cabin detail to remain visible from outside. This 5% K4 was intended for a very different customer goal: maximum privacy and a strong blackout appearance.

During daylight, the view through the 5% side windows was considerably clearer from inside the K4 than the nearly black exterior appearance might suggest. Bright outdoor conditions provided enough surrounding light for vehicles and other objects to remain visible through the treated glass.

Nighttime is different.

In areas with strong street lighting, an experienced 5% driver may find the setup more manageable. In poorly illuminated parking lots, residential streets, or other dark areas, it can become difficult to see objects through the side windows.

A driver may need to lower the windows while parking or maneuvering in an area with limited lighting. Weather, eyesight, streetlights, vehicle lighting, and familiarity with dark film can all affect the experience.

We do not recommend 5% for someone who has never driven with extremely dark tint. Customers considering it for their first tint installation should understand that daytime visibility does not demonstrate how the same glass will perform in a dark environment.

This customer already had 5% on her previous vehicle, knew what to expect, and deliberately selected it again. Her familiarity with the percentage is an important part of why this setup made sense for her.

The front windshield remained untreated. The visibility concerns discussed here apply to the 5% sides and rear, not a 5% full-windshield installation.
