This first-time customer wanted strong privacy in the rear of the G37 without tinting the front doors or windshield. He preferred this setup because he wanted to reduce the likelihood of problems with law enforcement while driving in New Jersey.

The rear section looked almost completely blacked out during daylight. From most positions, it was difficult to identify anyone or anything behind the rear glass.

Its appearance can still change according to:

Bright sunlight entering through the front of the sedan may reveal faint shapes inside. That does not make the 5% film appear light, but it explains why the rear glass may not look completely black in every photograph.

The clear windshield and front doors handle most of the driver’s normal outward visibility, so the rear-only setup has less effect on forward driving than 5% installed around the entire vehicle.

Daytime parking and reversing should generally remain manageable. At night, the driver may have difficulty seeing through the rear doors or back window in a poorly illuminated area. Mirrors, the backup camera when equipped, and exterior lighting become more important.

The customer chose standard film because he only wanted a dark rear section and had no plans to tint the front doors or windshield. His main goal was privacy rather than maximum heat rejection.

Standard film provided the 5% appearance he wanted at the lowest available price for this installation. Carbon or ceramic may make more sense for customers prioritizing additional heat rejection, but those upgrades were unnecessary for his particular goal.

Does 5% rear tint make the entire car look blacked out?
No. The rear section looks nearly blacked out, but the untinted windshield and front doors remain clear. Light entering through those areas can also brighten the rear interior.

Will 5% rear tint affect nighttime parking?
It can. Looking through the rear doors or back window may be difficult in poorly illuminated areas, even though the front doors remain clear.

Why wasn’t this Infiniti eligible for the tint special?
The vehicle is excluded because its glass configuration requires more installation time. Its exclusion is not based on it being an Infiniti, a luxury vehicle, or a foreign vehicle.

How long should the tinted windows remain closed?
Keep the rear roll-down windows closed for at least 24 hours. Temporary haze, moisture, or small water pockets can remain visible while the film cures.
