This 2026 Ram 1500 Big Horn received 35% standard film across the entire front windshield at Dope Tintings in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Combined with the truck’s existing 15% tint around the sides and rear, the windshield created a noticeably darker and more complete appearance while remaining manageable to see through during daytime and nighttime driving.

The Forged Blue Metallic exterior can appear green or blue depending on the lighting. Its black interior and dark side windows also make the 35% windshield appear darker from certain outside angles. We previously installed 15% tint around this Ram 1500, but the customer could not have the windshield completed during the original appointment because the newly purchased truck still needed its New Jersey inspection. After the inspection was completed, he returned to have 35% standard film installed across the windshield.

His main goals were privacy, a darker appearance, and completing the look created by the 15% side and rear windows. Heat rejection was not his main concern, which is why he selected standard film instead of Carbon or Ceramic.

This is a returning customer whose vehicles we have tinted approximately three to six times. He already knew what to expect from our work and was pleased with how the windshield completed the truck’s appearance.

The 35% windshield tint is immediately noticeable when viewing the truck from the front. On the cloudy day shown in these photos, it was difficult to identify the driver through the windshield. The combination of 35% windshield film, a black interior, and 15% tint on the remaining windows limited the amount of light passing through the cabin.

The result can change with the weather and viewing angle. On a bright, sunny day, someone standing directly in front of the truck may be able to see the driver or at least a silhouette. From another angle, reflections on the windshield and the dark cabin can make the same 35% film appear much darker.

Tint percentage is only part of what determines the finished appearance. Interior color, surrounding light, side-window darkness, windshield angle, reflections, and weather conditions can all change how visible the occupants are.

We consider 35% the darkest windshield percentage we normally recommend when a customer wants a clearly tinted appearance while maintaining manageable visibility. During the day, the driver should have no major difficulty seeing through it.

At night, 35% remains manageable for an experienced driver, especially on streets with adequate lighting. Visibility may be reduced on poorly lit roads, during severe weather, or in areas without streetlights. Anyone considering a tinted windshield should understand that the same film used during the day remains in place at night—it cannot be removed like a pair of sunglasses.

The three interior photos show the real view through this windshield during daylight. They provide a better reference than exterior photos alone because outside reflections can make windshield tint appear darker than it looks from the driver’s seat.

This customer did not have an approved New Jersey medical exemption. The installation was performed at his request after the truck had already completed its inspection.

For a cleaner one-piece installation, we removed the inspection sticker before applying the windshield film. We then placed the sticker on static-cling material and reapplied it over the tint. This optional service costs an additional $20 for any vehicle.

Removing and repositioning the inspection sticker does not make windshield tint legal and does not guarantee the vehicle will pass a future inspection.
