The light tan interior allows more cabin detail to remain visible than a black interior would. Adding 35% across the windshield helped balance the lighter cabin with the darker side windows.

This F-Pace appears to have an infrared-reflective windshield, also commonly called solar-attenuating or athermic glass. This type of windshield uses a solar-control layer within the laminated glass to reduce the amount of solar energy entering the vehicle.

Infrared-reflective glass can already display a purple, blue, or metallic haze when viewed from outside. Safelite explains that a purplish exterior haze can indicate infrared-reflective windshield glass.

Adding 35% film intensified that existing color. Depending on the angle, the completed windshield appeared:

• Blue
• Purple
• Slightly rainbow-colored
• Darker around certain reflections
• Similar to a chameleon-style windshield film

The standard film itself was not a colored chameleon film. The finished color came from the interaction between the aftermarket tint, the original windshield construction, overcast sky, moisture, reflections, and viewing angle.

Not every 2017–2026 F-Pace is guaranteed to have the same windshield equipment. Owners should check their windshield markings or vehicle equipment information before expecting an identical result.

Yes. A 35% windshield provides more noticeable glare reduction than lighter options such as 50%, 55%, or 70%.

The darker percentage allows less visible light through the windshield, which can reduce the intensity of bright sunlight and some surrounding lights. It will not eliminate glare from every source, and nighttime headlight performance can vary according to weather and the driver’s eyesight.

A useful comparison is sunglasses: darker lenses usually provide more noticeable glare reduction, but they also reduce the amount of available light. That tradeoff is why we recommend 35% as the darkest everyday windshield option rather than encouraging customers to select 20% or 5%.

We left a large tint-free opening around the New Jersey inspection sticker so an inspector could remove the existing sticker and apply a new one without disturbing the windshield film.

New Jersey MVC’s published inspection FAQ specifies an approximately 6-by-8-inch tint-free area in the lower-left corner for vehicles with approved medical windshield sunscreening. The owner is responsible for providing that clear area before inspection because inspection employees will not remove the film.
