The customer purchased the Passat for his daughter and wanted her windows tinted without making nighttime driving unnecessarily difficult. The customer is a FedEx driver who purchased this Passat for his daughter. He wanted to improve the car’s privacy and appearance, but his main priority was choosing percentages that would be comfortable for her to drive with every day.

Instead of using one dark percentage across every window, he selected 35% for the two front doors. This kept the windows around the driver lighter and easier to see through, especially when checking mirrors, making turns, or parking at night.

The 15% Carbon film on the rear section added more privacy for passengers and anything stored on the back seat. It also created a noticeable transition without dropping to an extremely dark percentage such as 5%.

Choosing 35% front tint does not guarantee that a driver will avoid a traffic stop or that the installation complies with every New Jersey tint restriction. Drivers should review our New Jersey window tint law guide before selecting a percentage.

The two percentages created a smooth transition on this Passat. Although we generally prefer an even percentage around a sedan, the 35%-front-and-15%-rear combination worked well for this customer’s specific goals.

From outside during daylight, the driver remained identifiable through the 35% front windows. The lighter front shade did not create a heavily blacked-out appearance, particularly with sunlight entering through the untreated windshield.

The 15% rear doors, fixed quarter windows, and back window produced more of a silhouette effect. Depending on the viewing angle and direction of the sunlight, someone outside could see that a passenger was inside without necessarily seeing clear details.

The rear section still did not look completely blacked out. Bright sunlight, reflections, and the Passat’s tan interior allowed some cabin visibility from certain angles. A black interior would generally make the same tint combination appear darker because it would reflect less light toward the glass.

The white exterior creates a strong visual contrast against the darker windows, but exterior paint does not determine how light or dark the film appears. Interior color, available sunlight, windshield coverage, reflections, and viewing angle have a much greater effect.

During the day, both percentages should be manageable for normal driving. The 35% Carbon film on the front doors allows more visible light through than the 15% rear film, which helps preserve the driver’s side visibility.

At night, the 35% front windows should remain comfortable in most driving and parking situations. That was one of the customer’s main reasons for choosing a lighter shade around his daughter’s seating position.

The 15% rear windows will appear darker at night, but they should not create the same visibility challenges associated with 5% film. The amount of available street lighting will still matter when backing up or looking through the rear doors and back window.

This is a practical combination for someone who wants the rear section darker while keeping the front doors easier to manage.
