Yes, 15% tint looks dark on this Kia Optima, especially when viewed from the side. It created a strong silhouette effect that made it clear someone could be inside the vehicle without making the driver’s identity easy to see.

The result was not completely blacked out. Whether someone could see inside depended on the viewing angle, sunlight, reflections, and the amount of light entering through the windshield. From certain angles, the cabin appeared very dark. From other angles, outside viewers could see the outline of an occupant.

The black interior contributed to the darker appearance. Interior color has a greater effect on how tint looks than exterior paint color.
